The Industry

What makes Leather Goods different

Leather has variables most ERPs were never built for: a natural material where every hide is different, work that moves between in-house sections and outside job-workers, and export buyers who expect documentation to be exact. Our earliest ERP implementations were leather units in Kanpur and Noida. It is still the industry we know best.

Where It Breaks

What goes wrong in Leather Goods without a system

01

Hide yield nobody can prove

You buy by the square foot and sell by the piece. Between the two, wastage hides in cutting, and nobody can say which grade, which supplier or which cutter is costing you.

02

Job-work that vanishes from view

Stitching, finishing, embroidery at outside units. Material goes out, pieces come back, and reconciling what went where is a monthly argument.

03

Export documents typed twice

Packing lists, invoices and certificates re-entered from the order sheet. One mismatch and the shipment waits at the port.

04

Sizes, colours, buyer specs

One style, twelve sizes, four colours, and each buyer with their own label and carton spec. A spreadsheet cannot hold it.

05

Sampling that eats the margin

Samples are made, approved and revised, and nobody knows what each one cost until the order is already priced.

How The System Handles It

Modules configured for Leather Goods

Each one answers a problem on the previous list. Take the modules you need; add the rest when the plant is ready.

Hide & Material Inventory

Track by lot, grade, supplier and square footage. See actual yield per cutting job against standard, by cutter.

Job-Work Management

Issue and receive against challans. Outstanding at every job-worker on one screen; wastage caught at return.

Order-Wise Production

Every buyer order broken into style × size × colour, with status at each section from cutting to packing.

Export Documentation

Packing list, commercial invoice and packing details generated from the same order data. Nothing retyped.

Costing & Sampling

Sample cost captured per revision. Actual versus quoted margin per order once it ships.

Quality & Rejection

Rejections logged by section and reason. Rework tracked to the piece, not the batch.

In Their Words

From a Leather Goods plant that runs on it

Not a case study we wrote — what the client said.

We were looking for a custom ERP for leather industry, Webcity delivered the solution with implementation and integration. We can see the effect right from the bottom line. Definitely worth giving a shot. The on-going support helps us run the software without any issues.

Questions We Get

On the first call, Leather Goods manufacturers usually ask

If yours is not here, ask it — we would rather answer than guess.

Yes. Job-work is a first-class module: material is issued against a challan, pieces are received against it, and every job-worker’s outstanding — material and pieces — is visible in one screen. Wastage and rejection are captured at the point of return.

Hides are stocked by lot, grade and square footage. Each cutting job records what was issued and what came out, so yield is calculated per job, per cutter, per supplier lot — and compared with the standard you set.

Packing list, commercial invoice, packing details and buyer-specific labels come from the order data already in the system. You stop retyping, and the numbers cannot disagree with each other.

The same system, configured for your products. S.B. International runs it for equestrian goods and boots; other clients run it for bags, wallets and footwear. The modules are the same; the item masters, routes and buyer specs are yours.
